August 9, 2024
Dear parents and guardians of first-year students, With move-in just over a week away, I write with some final details for the day. Many of you plan to be here, and if you will be on campus I hope you enjoy the day. It's traditionally a busy but wonderful one, full of excitement and activity, and with many people here to help. Whether or not you will be here, I send you my best wishes for both next Sunday and the year about to begin.
Sincerely,
Hannah Peck

Dear Class of 2028,
We cannot wait to welcome you to campus a week from Sunday. Preparations are in full swing for your arrival. Here is some important information to help you on August 18.
MOVING IN
By now, you should have received directions from your residential college. When you arrive, you will get plenty of support from upper-level students who will help you carry your belongings to your room.
Reserve a time slot
If you have not already reserved a move-in time slot, or if you need to remind yourself of an existing reservation, do that now.
→ Make or check a move-in reservation
If you are running late on Sunday, please tell your first-year counselor (FroCo) or transfer peer adviser (TPA).
Print a car sign If you are arriving by car, print a car sign and display it on your dashboard to help guides direct you to the right place.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
Please reserve an arrival time between noon and 2:00 p.m.
Instead of printing car signs, go directly to your college and follow the move-in instructions you have received by now.
If you have move-in questions, please write to the housing office.
Park
Once you have unloaded, clear the area so that cars behind you can unload, then park your car.
→ Find out where to park on move-in day.
MEALS
Sunday You can start eating in the dining halls for lunch on August 18. Your families and move-in helpers can join you that day, for lunch and dinner: the charge for them, per person, is $13.61 for lunch and $18.44 for dinner.
Monday On Monday, August 19, families and move-in helpers are invited to a special lunch in the residential college dining halls. There is no charge.
Dietary restrictions If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, Yale Hospitality has created resources for you.
→ Learn more about support for dietary restrictions
SAFETY
Stay safe The Public Safety team has created resources for staying safe on and around campus.
Leave prohibited items at home Battery-operated micro-mobility devices (e-scooters, e-bikes, e-skateboards, etc.) are not permitted in any of the residential spaces, so please do not bring them to campus. Consider insuring your belongings
Because the university does not assume responsibility for personal property belonging to students, faculty or staff, consider purchasing insurance to protect against loss or damage.
→ Purchase personal property insurance (not required but recommended)
CALENDAR OF OPENING DAYS
The Calendar of Opening Days is now available. Your FroCo will go over the schedule with you when you arrive and talk through which events are mandatory and when your specific workshops will be.
See you all very soon,
