Overview: The Center for International and Professional Experience (CIPE) supports study, work, and research opportunities domestically and abroad for more than 5,000 Yale College undergraduates. The Director of Fellowship Programs provides strategic leadership for all fellowship activities within CIPE and oversees guidance to fellowship administrators in other divisions. The office manages the Student Grants Database, the International Study Award, Yale College’s financial literacy and emergency funding site, FinLit, and the SafetyNet emergency funding application.

As Director of Fellowship Programs, provide leadership for all national and Yale College fellowship competitions that advance institutional aims for student achievement and faculty engagement. Oversee funding application tools and informational resources for Yale College resources as needed.

Essential Duties:

  1. Develop and manage all fellowship activities for CIPE and provide stewardship support for various fellowships.
  2. Hire, train, and supervise professional, support, and student staff for fellowships, including the staff for fellowship competitions, the Richard U. Light Fellowship Program and others.  Create and maintain a culture of responsibility, accountability, development, and dedication to student learning.
  3. Provide leadership in fellowship competitions in such areas as relationships with external donors and agencies, in forming faculty selection committees and directives, in determining award policies, and in all other aspects related to ensuring the highest standards for successful and ethical stewardship of more than $3 million in fellowship funds.
  4. Develop new fellowship opportunities in collaboration with the Office of Development, the Dean’s Office, the Council of Heads of College, the Office of International Students and Scholars, the Cultural Centers, other units at Yale, external funding organizations, agencies, and donors.
  5. Develop marketing and public relations materials that represent to students and to the wider Yale community Fellowship Programs’ aims for educational outcomes.
  6. Represent Yale University at meetings of regional and national conferences, professional associations, peer institutions, and on international site visits and contribute to national discussions of best practices in the professional field of Fellowships.
  7. Serve on Yale College and other committees.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
