Dear Class of 2028,

As you ease into college life, I encourage you to think about how you will maintain a healthy balance between your studies and your life outside of the classroom. Everyone has their own way of maintaining it. For you, it could be a practice like exercising, writing, or meditating, or just setting aside time to be alone and recharge. Whatever practices have helped you, I encourage you to continue them in the coming weeks and months.

Because college life is new for you, you may also want to explore new or additional options to support your personal well-being. Your well-being is a priority, and there is always help available if you ask. In addition to your residential college deans and heads, Peer Liaisons, and first-year counselors, here are some helpful resources. Most Yale undergraduates use at least one of them.

YC3 (Yale College Community Care)
Mental Health and Counseling (included in Yale Basic)
The Chaplain’s Office
Student Accessibility Services
→ Exercise options: college gyms, PWG, exercise classes, IMs, club sports
Poorvu offerings: tutors, first-year supports like time management workshops
Time Away Options

Warmly,  Dean Peck
