Spring 2026 Placement Exams and Information
Placement exams ensure that your Yale courses are at the appropriate level.
Online placement exams are offered three times a year: in the summer, fall, and spring. Most placement exam results are valid for one year.
The departments below regularly offer online placement exams in advance of course registration.
Only some students may need to take a placement exam this spring (mainly students with prior knowledge of a subject but who did not take a placement exam in that subject or receive a departmental placement within the past year, including in summer 2025).

All other students with prior knowledge of Portuguese, whether acquired formally or informally, must take a placement exam before enrolling in a Portuguese language course. |
