Voucher Distribution

Vouchers will be emailed directly to eligible students on your Yale email account. The first voucher will go out on Monday (11/25) for use on Thursday (11/28), the first day of the campaign. Subsequent vouchers will go out in the afternoon before they can be used. The Friday voucher will go out on Thursday afternoon, and the Saturday voucher will go out on Friday afternoon.

Voucher Set Up and Use

  • The Voucher will be sent directly to your Yale email address.

  • Use the latest version of the Uber app or access Uber via a web browser.

  • When redeeming a voucher, make sure to use your personal profile.

    • Vouchers don’t apply to orders placed on a business or family profile.

  • Once claimed, the voucher will be visible in the Wallet section of the app.

  • You must add a secondary payment method to your account to place orders.

  • To add a secondary payment method:

    • Select "Wallet" from your app menu;

    • Tap Add Payment;

    • Add a payment method by scanning a card, manually entering card info, or adding an alternative payment type.

    • Secondary payment methods are used in case the cost of the trip/order exceeds the limit of the voucher. Additionally, authorization holds may be placed on your secondary payment method for Voucher trip/order requests. This authorization hold will be immediately voided, and the Voucher will still be charged.

  • Once you've added a secondary payment method, you should be able to place orders using the voucher.

  • You can confirm that the voucher has been applied to an order by tapping the payment method at checkout and confirming that the voucher is toggled on.

Did you charge your credit card instead of the voucher?

If possible, cancel & re-order using a web browser or the updated app.

If not, follow this process to apply the voucher retroactively post-order:

  • Open your Uber App.

  • Tap your profile icon on the top right, and tap ‘Help’ on the next screen.

  • Tap “Trip/Order Issues and refunds”.

  • Select the trip/order on which the voucher did not apply.

  • Tap “Get trip/order help”.

  • Select ‘I had an issue with my voucher’.

  • Note: If you don’t see this option right away, please tap ‘More Options’.

  • If you have an eligible voucher on your account, the next screen will ask you to confirm if the voucher should be applied. Select the voucher and Tap ‘Apply Voucher’.

  • The next screen will show that the voucher has been applied, and your personal payment method will be refunded.

  • If for any reason the voucher could be applied, the app will show the reason (ie voucher had expired, or it was canceled by the issuing organization).

Email business-support@uber.com for any unresolved concerns with personal charges or voucher use.
