Launched in 2011, the Transfer Peer Adviser Program is designed to help incoming transfer students adjust to life at Yale and explore their full range of interests. TPAs are students who transferred to Yale in previous years, and who are interested in providing guidance and mentorship to the incoming class. Each new transfer student will be assigned a TPA during the summer, and this TPA will serve as both a friend and a mentor to them throughout the academic year. However, accepted students are encouraged to explore the bios of all TPAs, and to contact any TPA with questions specific to his or her academic or extracurricular interests. All TPAs are happy to answer any and all questions about the Yale experience.

Hello new transfer students — welcome to Yale! I am so excited to be one of the head transfer counselors this year and to get to know you all! I transferred here from Oberlin College the fall of 2019, and I’m originally from Brooklyn, New York. I am a rising third-year in Jonathan Edwards College and I am majoring in American studies (and maybe art???). I am also concentrating in narrative and documentary filmmaking outside of the bounds of a specific major. At Yale, I am the performance director of Mixed Company, one of the many a capella groups we have here, and I am the publicity chair for the Yale Film Alliance. I’m also a member of Danceworks, Yale’s largest non-audition dance group. In my free time, I love exploring new spaces on and off campus and obsessively propagating my growing family of plants. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about the arts at Yale or Yale in general! You can reach me by email at!

Marie Sanford

In my free time, I love catching meals with friends on Cross Campus or exploring new parts of New Haven. I’m extremely excited about welcoming the new cohort of transfers to Yale this fall!

Hello, everyone! I’m a rising senior in Pierson College majoring in political science. I’m specifically interested in U.S.-Russia-China relations and each country’s historical and political background, as well as their foreign policies. Before transferring to Yale, I attended Cerritos Community College, located in my native city of Norwalk, California. I’m currently a researcher and cohort member with the Civic Allyship Initiative Cohort and I’m involved in Yale Students for Christ. This summer, I will be interning with a non-profit organization and, beginning in fall 2021, I’ll be an Academic Strategies mentor. Outside of academics, I love running, hiking, or anything outdoors-related! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about life, academics, or transitioning to Yale. I look forward to meeting you all! (

Hello, incoming transfers! I'm so excited to join you as you transition to make Yale your new home. I'm a sophomore Trumbullian from Bethesda, MD. I transferred from Duke to Yale after my freshman year to continue my baseball career, and I found nothing but endless opportunities off the field and equally endless welcoming faces. Here at Yale, I'm leading the Yale Entrepreneurial Society's startup incubator, where I work with our incredible team of undergrads, School of Management students, and alumni to cultivate a flourishing community of startups and their founders at Yale. In my free time I love to run, play the guitar (a work in progress), and watch Tarantino movies. Reach me any time at

Simone Koch Costa

Hey everyone! I’m a rising senior in Timothy Dwight College majoring in sociology. I transferred to Yale after completing my associate’s degree at the Honors College at Miami Dade College, entering as a second-semester sophomore. At Yale, I am an Education Studies Scholar and serve as team captain of Yale Club Jump Rope. I took a leave of absence last fall in order to graduate on cycle, during which I got a head start on my senior thesis — conducting original research on the competitive jump rope community. I also served as a research assistant to Dr. Daniel Karell, studying the alt-right movement on YouTube, and to PhD. candidate Thomas Lyttelton, studying the effects of the pandemic and school closures on women’s employment. In my spare time, I enjoy spending afternoons outside, hanging out with friends, and trying out new foods at New Haven’s amazing restaurants. If you have any questions about applying to Education Studies, taking a semester off, doing social science research, or anything else, feel free to reach out at

Hi all! I am a rising junior in Timothy Dwight College majoring in classics and chemistry. I transferred to Yale as a sophomore after one year at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I am originally from Canada, but for most of my life I’ve moved around the United States, graduating high school outside of Philadelphia. Having moved a lot, I understand any concerns and anxieties you might have about transferring, so feel free to reach out. Besides reading Latin, Ancient Greek, and chemical reactions, I teach science to kids via DEMOS, I work as a psychology research assistant, I babysit on the side, and I do yoga when I have time. Hi, everyone! I am a rising senior in Saybrook College. I am thrilled to be one of the transfer counselors this year, especially after having served as one of the head transfer counselors last year. I am from Ireland and, before I transferred to Yale, I spent a year at the London School of Economics. I am majoring in economics (no surprise there), but I love to take film and drama classes as well — something that Yale’s liberal arts education allows me to do. Outside of classes, I am a member of the business committee for the Women’s Leadership Initiative and of the investment group called Smart Women Securities. In addition, I am a volunteer for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), and a sister of the Alpha Phi Sorority. In my spare time, I love to play guitar, watch movies, hike to East Rock, and hang out with friends on our beautiful campus. I am so excited to meet you all, welcome you to the Yale community and introduce you to all the amazing things that Yale has to offer. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me ( if you have any questions or concerns, I am more than happy to chat and answer any queries as best as I can! See you all soon!

Daniela Mulet

Hello! I’m a junior majoring in political science and history. I believe that my mission is to ensure equity through educational opportunities and youth empowerment. After emigrating to Miami from Mexico in 2016, I commenced my local activism engagement when I became an Andrew Goodman Foundation Ambassador, Organizer of Venexodo and Engage Miami, and founder of Pathways for the Future — an organization where I counsels immigrant and refugee populations about the American education system. I am also experienced in the law, as I clerked for a civil, real estate, and immigration law firm and interned for a criminal judge in Miami-Dade County. Outside of class, I enjoy traveling, eating out, hanging out with friends, and playing with my kitten, Kino.

Hi! I am a rising junior in Davenport College. I am originally from New York City and transferred to Yale from Tufts after my freshman year. At Yale, I am on the Moot Court team, consult with the Global Research and Consulting Group, and am a member of Greek life. I am also a passionate sports fan and play on Yale's club baseball team. In school, I study Global Affairs and am particularly interested in the intersection between national security, civil liberties, and human rights. Last year, I took a leave of absence from Yale during which I was able to explore these interests and hope to do so further while interning for a peacebuilding nonprofit in Israel this summer. Feel free to reach out at and I look forward to meeting you in the fall!

Dante Petruzziello

Hello transfers! My name is Dante and I’m a junior in Pierson majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology on a premed track. I was homeschooled for most of my life and transferred to Yale after spending two years at a local community college. I am a Connecticut native and grew up just 45 minutes from the Yale campus, which allowed me to take advantage of the many opportunities the university provided during my homeschool and early college years. At Yale, I am a member of Yale EMS and the Yale Bridge Club. I spent the 2020-21 academic year on leave from Yale, during which I worked full-time as an EMT on my local ambulance. I’m currently getting involved with undergraduate research myself, but am happy to answer questions or provide resources on that front! Prior to my time at Yale, I spent five years as a traveling youth circus performer and ran trading card game tournaments at a local card shop. Feel free to reach out with any questions about life or academics at Yale and I look forward to meeting you all!
