The purpose of reading period is to allow students review or augment their course work and prepare for final examinations. It lasts slightly less than a week and comes between the end of classes and the beginning of the final examination period.
Most courses do not meet during reading period. Courses that do meet are marked “RP” in the Yale College Programs of Study. Sometimes, however, when “RP” does not appear, an instructor may still set review sessions or schedule extra classes during reading period.
