Parking in New Haven

Downtown New Haven has over 15,000 convenient parking spaces.

Parking Meters

Many downtown parking meters accept credit cards.

Parking Lots and Garages

Yale Lots

All visitors to the university pay to park in Yale Parking Services-operated lots, unless advance arrangements have been made through a hosting department. Parking arrangements for all conferences must be made in advance. If advance notice is not possible, Yale Parking Services will make every effort to accommodate visitors where space is available. Individuals visiting the University may purchase short-term permits at the Yale Parking Services Office.

Each person who parks in a University parking lot agrees that neither Yale University nor any of its officers or employees is responsible for injury to person, nor for theft of, nor damage to vehicles or their contents while on University property.

Bicycles

Bicycles are a smart way to get around campus and the New Haven area. Bike racks or bike rooms are available at most classroom and office buildings, residential colleges, and graduate dorms or apartments.

To protect yourself, wear your helmet and pads as necessary. Ride with the flow of traffic and respect the rules of the road and all traffic signs and signals. If you must ride at night, be sure to use lights and reflectors.

Please lock your bike with a U-lock and secure both the wheels and the frame to a bike rack, pole,or fence. Please do not lock your bike onto railings of a handicap access ramp, building entrances,or stair rails, as the bike will be impounded by the Yale Police and you will be charged a fee to retrieve it.
