This calendar includes a partial summary of deadlines given in the Undergraduate Curriculum and Academic Regulations sections of this Web site, along with deadlines given in the Yale College Undergraduate Regulations. Unless otherwise specified, deadlines fall at 5 p.m.

Fall Term 2012

August

22 Wed. Residences open to upperclassmen, 9 a.m.
24 Fri. Residences open to freshmen, 9 a.m.
  Required registration meetings for freshmen, 8 p.m.
28 Tues. Required registration meetings for upperclassmen.
29 Wed. Fall-term classes begin, 8:20 a.m.
31 Fri. Friday classes do not meet; Monday classes meet instead.

September

3 Mon. Labor Day; classes do not meet.
7 Fri. Final deadline to apply for a fall-term Leave of Absence.
  Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a full rebate of fall-term tuition (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).
10 Mon. Course schedules due for the Class of 2016.(1)
11 Tues. Course schedules due for the Classes of 2015 and 2014.(1)
12 Wed. Course schedules due for the Class of 2013.(1)
  All students planning to complete degree requirements at the end of the fall term must file a petition by this date. (See under Special Arrangements for penalties resulting from failure to meet this deadline.)
22 Sat. Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a rebate of one-half of fall-term tuition (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).

October

15 Mon. Deadline to complete applications for financial aid for the 2013 spring term, for students not enrolled in the 2012 fall term (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Aid regulations).
  Deadline to apply for a spring-term 2013 Term Abroad.
19 Fri. Midterm.
  Last day to withdraw from a fall-term course without the course appearing on the transcript. (See under Withdrawal from Courses and Grades.)
  Deadline to apply for double credit in a single-credit course.
  Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a rebate of one-quarter of the term's tuition (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).
23 Tues. October recess begins, 11 p.m.
29 Mon. Classes resume, 8:20 a.m.

November

9 Fri. Last day to convert from the Credit/D/Fail option in a fall-term course to a letter grade.
16 Fri. November recess begins, 5:30 p.m.
26 Mon. Classes resume, 8:20 a.m.
30 Fri. Last day to relinquish on-campus housing for the spring term without charge (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).

December

7 Fri. Classes end, 5:30 p.m.; reading period begins.
  Last day to withdraw from a fall-term course. (See under Withdrawal from Courses and Grades.)
12 Wed. Reading period ends.
  Deadline for all course assignments, including term papers. This deadline can be extended only by a Temporary Incomplete authorized by the student's residential college dean.
13 Thurs. Final examinations begin, 9 a.m. (2)
18 Tues. Examinations end, 5:30 p.m.; winter recess begins.
19 Wed. Residences close, 12 noon.

 

Spring Term 2013

January

9 Wed. Residences open, 9 a.m.
13 Sun. Required freshman registration meetings, 9 p.m.
14 Mon. Spring-term classes begin, 8:20 a.m.
  Upperclassmen pick up registration materials by 5 p.m. in their residential college dean's office.
18 Fri. Friday classes do not meet; Monday classes meet instead.
21 Mon. Martin Luther King Jr. Day; classes do not meet.
23 Wed. Course schedules due for the Class of 2016. (1)
  Final deadline to apply for a spring-term Leave of Absence.
  Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a full rebate of spring-term tuition (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).
24 Thurs. Course schedules due for the Classes of 2015 and 2014. (1)
25 Fri. Course schedules due for the Class of 2013. (1)
  Last day for students in the Class of 2013 to petition for permission to complete the requirements of two majors.

February

7 Thurs. Withdrawal from Yale College on or before this date entitles a student to a rebate of one-half of spring-term tuition (Undergraduate Regulations, Financial Services regulations).

March

5 Tues. Deadline to apply for a fall-term 2013 Term Abroad or a 2013–2014 Year Abroad.
