The Non-Degree Students Program offers non-resident students the opportunity to enroll in most Yale College courses for credit, but not towards a Bachelor’s degree at Yale. Non-Degree students have used this program to complete a Bachelor’s degree at other universities; to qualify for graduate or professional schools; to launch, advance, or change careers; or simply to enrich their personal and intellectual lives. The Non-Degree Students Program currently enrolls approximately 50 people over the course of an academic year, all of whom have distinct and diverse backgrounds.
The Yale Alumni Auditing Program provides degree-holding Yale alumni and their spouses the opportunity to audit Yale College classes, expand intellectual interests, make new friends and experience the daily life of Yale College. Most alumni take classes at Yale simply for the joy of learning and do not take courses for credit. Alumni and their spouses who wish to audit courses generally do not have access to small seminars but may enroll in many popular lecture courses. The Yale College Programs of Study contains a detailed description of the courses offered in Yale College. For additional information, see Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Yale Alumni Auditing.
The Teacher Preparation program assists students interested in teaching in secondary schools. Upon completion of the program, a student is eligible for certification in grades 7-12 in most academic subjects in Connecticut and in a number of states with which Connecticut shares reciprocity. For specific information on the program of study, please see the Teacher Preparation Web site, or to apply, see Office of Undergraduate Admissions: Teacher Preparation Program.
