The DeVane Lectures

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The DeVane Lectures are special series of lectures that are open to the general public as well as to students and to other members of the Yale community. They were established in 1969 in honor of William Clyde DeVane, Dean of Yale College from 1939 to 1963. Two sets of DeVane Lectures will be offered in 2011–2012. In fall 2011, Paul Bloom, professor of Psychology, will discuss "Moralities of Everyday Life." In spring 2012, Elizabeth Alexander, the Thomas E. Donnelley Professor of African American Studies and professor of American Studies and English, will explore "African American Arts Today." Details of the courses are listed under Subjects of Instruction. Supplementary meetings are held for students taking the lectures for credit.
