Deadlines and Updates

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The schedule of deadlines for the YCPS is usually sent out in early January, with the deadline for copy submission falling in early February, about the third or fourth week of the spring term. This deadline is a firm one, since checking a course in one department often entails reference to the copy of another department.

After the initial copy submission in February, changes can be made to course and program information through the Course Information Management System (CIMS). Most changes are permitted until a second deadline, typically at the beginning of May. Course meeting times and section instructors may be updated at any time of year through CIMS. Some changes are difficult to make late in the editing cycle, and all updates are subject to editorial approval. Program descriptions, once published, may not be changed until the following academic year.

Departments submit information for new courses through the online Course Proposal Form (CPF). The Yale College Publications Office transfers the CPF data into CIMS for viewing. Editorial work begins on new courses while their approval by the Course of Study Committee and the Yale College Faculty is still pending.
